Police seek suspect who called in subway bomb threats
New York City police are asking for help from the public in the hunt for a young man believed to be responsible for telephoning in two bomb threats related to the subway system in Queens.
A surveillance photo of the suspect, described as a male between the ages of 18 and 20 and about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, was released Thursday by police.
The individual called in two threats on Sept. 14 just minutes apart, beginning around 5:45 p.m., investigators said. Cops said the first call to 911 related that there was a bomb inside of a bathroom on the mezzanine level of the Union Turnpike subway station at Queens Boulevard.
The second call, according to police, occurred about 15 minutes later and claimed there was a bomb on an E train at the Roosevelt Avenue subway station. Police searches of both locations found no suspicious devices.
Police said anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call in confidence to Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477).
