Port Authority: LaGuardia Airport parking lot fee reduction extended

A reduced rate at one LaGuardia Airport parking lot has been extended for three months as motorists continue to struggle to get to and from terminals during the airport’s massive reconstruction.

The Port Authority, which operates the airport, said on its website this week that the “redevelopment promotion” rate of $18 would be in effect through the end of August at the long-term lot, P10, the lot farthest from the terminals.

The $8 billion redevelopment began in June and is expected to last a decade. The Port Authority has been extending the reduced rate in an attempt to reduce vehicle congestion at the terminals.

It had cut the $39 daily fee at P10 to $18 during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday travel season late last year, then extended it to Jan. 31 and again to May 31.

In early December, the agency increased the daily rate at the three lots closest to the terminals to $59, up from $39, as part of its effort to get travelers to use mass transit or the long-term lot.
