The Federal Aviation Administration said it will investigate an accident at LaGuardia Airport Thursday in which two arriving planes clipped each other on a taxiway.

There were no injuries as a result of the accident on Taxiway B about 8:35 a.m., the FAA said.

WestJet Flight 1200, a Boeing 737, “made contact” with a wing of Republic Airline Flight 5899, an Embraer E170, the FAA said.

A spokeswoman for WestJet said the wingtip of its incoming flight from Toronto touched the tail wing of another plane that was “holding to go into a gate.”

The WestJet plane continued to the gate under its own power and was taken out of service for an inspection, the spokeswoman said.

Republic did not immediately return a telephone call requesting comment.
