Program lets motorists fight tickets online
New York City has expanded a program that allows motorists to contest their parking tickets.
The One-Click Hearings program will now also let motorists download photos, written rebuttals and other evidence. The city last year issued nearly 10 million parking tickets.
About 1.2 million are contested each year and nearly half of those are dismissed. The expanded program also will allow residents to go online for the first time to contest summonses for other offenses such as littering, noise and improper recycling.
City Council Speaker Christine Quinn says One-Click Hearings lets New York City residents feel they have a fair shot.
