Protesters join mourners at World Trade Center

As scores gathered at the World Trade Center Sunday to mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11, a few groups took to the area to protest.

About 150 people with the Stop Islamization of America sect of the Freedom Defense Initiative gathered around West Broadway and Murray Street. The group reportedly gathered to oppose Islamization of the country, as well as building on the site.

"I'm not here to condemn Muslims," said 9/11 first responder Alan DeVona told the Star-Ledger. "I'm here to condemn Islamic jihad terrorists."

Nearby, about 100 members of the group “We Are Change” rallied to call for an investigation into the destruction of Tower, which the group thinks is proof that the attack was orchestrated by the U.S. government, according to the International Business Times.

Florida pastor Terry Jones, who gained infamy last year by threatening to burn a copy of the Koran, was also there, and the Daily News reported that he got into a shouting match with a group of so-called "truthers." He claimed he was there to support first responders.

The NYPD said there were no incidents involving the protesters.
