Four, including 5-year-old, fatally shot in Queens apartment, police say
Four people, including a child, were found dead at a Queens apartment building Monday night after officers responded to a call of a male bleeding, NYPD said.
A 5-year-old boy, two women and a man were fatally shot at a 30th Drive apartment in Astoria, said Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea at the scene. Officials said a gun was found at the scene, and investigators were trying to determine if the case is a murder-suicide.
Investigators have tentatively identified one of the dead, but declined to release the name, Shea said.
Officers got a call at 8:53 p.m. about a man bleeding and found him in the backyard of the residence, police said. It was not immediately clear if he was among the fatalities.
Police dogs and officers with long guns descended on the area, because it was initially unclear what had happened. Later, police said they were not looking for a shooter on the loose.
Investigators remained at the scene overnight to piece together evidence.
