Police say a man apparently killed his wife, teenage daughters and himself with a rifle, leaving a suicide note on the kitchen table.

Authorities received a call at about 7 a.m. Monday.

When they arrived, they found the man dead with a gunshot wound in the family’s living room in Queens. His 42-year-old wife and their 19- and 14-year-old daughters were found in their bedrooms.

Police say a note found on the kitchen table read: “I am sorry.” Police say it was signed by the father.

Police cordoned off the residential street in Springfield Gardens. A crowd gathered as investigators in white coveralls came and went from the two-story house. But the onlookers said they didn’t know the family.
