Queens man charged with murder in toddler's death
A Queens man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend's 19-month-old daughter, police said Saturday.
Allen Shannon, 27, who lived with his girlfriend and the toddler in a Corona apartment, is charged in the death of Anniyah Levant, whose body showed signs of severe trauma, police said.
The child was found unconscious in the home at about 4:35 p.m. Thursday and was taken to The Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. It was unclear who discovered the child.
A private vehicle was used to take her to the hospital, police said.
The city medical examiner's office classified the death a homicide.
Police sources said the girl's mother had been questioned but would give no further details.
