Queens man charged with stalking CNN's Anderson Cooper since 2008: Reports

A Queens man was arraigned Saturday on charges of stalking CNN journalist Anderson Cooper for nearly five years, ending with an attempt to kick down the door to Cooper’s four-story West Village pad, according to published reports.

Alex Hausner, a 40-year-old self-described gay, Jewish white supremacist, was charged with felony first-degree menacing, misdemeanor harassment and stalking, the New York Post reported Sunday. He is being held on $75,000 bail.

Hausner is allegedly a psychiatric patient who has been stalking Cooper, 46, since 2008, making unwelcome phone calls and up to four attempts to visit Cooper, including a June 22 incident when he reportedly tried to break down the door to the converted firehouse Cooper shares with his boyfriend.

At his arraignment, Hausner claimed that Cooper’s boyfriend, bar owner Benjamin Maisani, has “sent people after [him],” the Post said. Hausner reportedly has prior misdemeanor and felony convictions.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office and Anderson’s attorney didn't respond to calls for comment.
