Eleven New York City firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling a five-alarm blaze in Queens Monday night.

Some 200 New York Fire Department firefighters worked for several hours to subdue the fire that started about 8 p.m. in two-story row house at 78-15 68th Ave. in Middle Village, said FDNY spokesman Jim Long. The fire was brought under control about 10:40 p.m., he said. Shortly after midnight, the fire had been extinguished, Long said, and firefighters were mopping up at the scene.

The fire spread to five other homes on the block, Long said. No civilians had been reported injured by early Tuesday, he said.

A cause has not yet been determined, but the fire did not appear to be suspicious, Long said, adding investigators were on the scene to pinpoint the cause.
