R train between Manhattan, Brooklyn could be days away: Reports

The MTA may be as close to being only a week away from restoring R train service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, according to agency officials.
Service on the train between 34th Street/Herald Square and Jay Street/MetroTech has been down since Superstorm Sandy flooded the line's tube.
But officials yesterday said that the train will hopefully be running from end-to-end in seven to 14 days.
"That is the highest priority, getting that done," New York City Transit President Thomas Prendergast said yesterday, according to the Daily News.
The MTA will re-open the line in sections, first bringing service from 34th Street to Rector Street, then extending it to Brooklyn through the Montague Street tube.
That tube was the worst-hit of all in the system, and was flooded from floor to ceiling with seawater during the superstorm, causing severe electrical damage that is still being repaired.
