Randy Travis in critical condition after surgery following stroke
Country singer Randy Travis remains in critical condition at a Texas hospital following surgery to relieve pressure on his brain after suffering a stroke, according to his publicist.
Travis, 54, had a stroke at The Heart Hospital at Baylor Plano on Wednesday as a complication of his being treated for congestive heart failure, his publicist, Kirt Webster, said in a statement.
The surgery for his stroke came shortly after doctors had stabilized Travis and he had "shown signs of improvement."
"We will have updates as they become available," Webster said.
"His family and friends here with him at the hospital request your prayers and support."
Travis was hospitalized Sunday for heart problems and has been in critical condition since.
Best known for his songs "Forever and Ever, Amen" and "Diggin' Up Bones," Travis has accumulated seven Grammys and 10 statues each from the Academy of Country Music and the American Music Awards
