The Rangers are firmly on the playoff bubble, having entered Sunday tied with the Islanders for the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.
They were just two points ahead of ninth-place Winnipeg at the time. They’re also within reach of Toronto, their opponent in the next two games this week.
Two regulation wins over the Maple Leafs, who entered yesterday as the No. 5 seed, would allow the Rangers tie Toronto’s 46 points.
The puck drops on the home-and-home set tonight at Air Canada Centre, then returns to the U.S. for a matchup at the Garden on Wednesday.
The Rangers appear to be hitting their stride at the right time, having already earned seven points in April (3-0-1).
