Derek Jeter began hitting for the first time since being shut down during spring training due to ankle soreness, according to reports.
The 38-year-old shortstop took swings and ran for the second straight day at the team’s minor league facility in Tampa, Fla.
Jeter, who hasn’t played since being used as the designated hitter in a minor league spring training game March 23, also fielded ground balls and threw to first base for the first time since being sidelined.
The 13-time All Star hasn’t played in a major league game since breaking his ankle during Game 1 of the ALCS in October.
Despite getting back on the field, there is no timetable for Jeter’s return.
