Hours before reportedly pleading no contest to disorderly conduct Thursday, Reese Witherspoon didn't make any excuses for her brush with the law in an

interview on "Good Morning America."

In her first TV appearance since the flap, the actress accepted responsibility for her arrest last month -- which happened after she mouthed off to a cop who arrested her hubby, Jim Toth, for DUI. Although she pleaded no contest, Toth pleaded guilty, according to TMZ.com.

"We went out to dinner ... and we had one too many glasses of wine," Witherspoon said. "We thought we were fine to drive and we absolutely were not."

She added: "It's just completely unacceptable and we are so sorry and embarrassed."
