Reward and worries grow in case of missing Westchester woman

An Indianapolis sports mogul has added $10,000 to the $100,000 reward offered for information about missing Westchester college student Lauren Spierer as the investigation into the case grew murkier.

Bloomington Police Lt. Bill Parker told reporters Thursday that Spierer, 20, an Indiana University fashion merchandising major who vanished early June 3 after a night of partying, had not been involved in an altercation, contradicting earlier reports.

Parker also said that while an unspecified number of “persons of interest” had been identified, there were no suspects, and that a nearby lake is being searched following a tip.

Meanwhile, a lawyer for the man who had been with Spierer the night she disappeared, said that Spierer’s companion early Friday, Corey Rossman, has amnesia about their last moments together, but that the two encountered “someone” who assaulted Rossman.

“He got punched in the face. He has no memory of that, or of the 15 minutes leading to that moment,” attorney Carl Salzmann told The Journal News. Salzmann also said that Rossman was not the last person to see Spierer and at least three or four other people had seen her after they parted ways.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is financially supporting Spierer’s family in their effort to gain information leading to the return of Spierer, who has a heart condition and relies on daily medication. More than a dozen Facebook pages have been created to pray for her return and distribute her picture.
