Rewind: 'All-Star Superman' a heroic animated film
‘All-Star Superman’
One of the finest “Superman” stories to come out in recent times is Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s “All-Star Superman,” adapted here (with some changes, of course) as an animated movie. He’s still going to battle Lex Luthor and it’s still a lot of fun, but do yourself a favor and go read the original series. Featuring the voice work of James Denton, Christina Hendricks, Anthony LaPaglia and, for you “Lou Grant” fans, Ed Asner. (DVD, $19.98; two-disc edition, $24.98; DVD/Blu-ray combo, $24.98)
‘Megamind’
While the animated supervillain flick “Megamind” — featuring the voice talent of Will Ferrell and Brad Pitt — is enjoyable, it’s kind of a rehash of a bunch of other animated films, specifically “Despicable Me.” (Due out Friday: DVD, $29.99; DVD/Blu-ray Combo, $49.99)
‘Due Date’
“The Hangover” director Todd Phillips reunites with the bearded wonder Zach Galifianakis for this road comedy with Robert Downey Jr. (DVD, $28.98; Blu-ray, $35.99)
‘Birdemic: Shock and Terror’
Two words: homicidal birds. (DVD, $24.98; Blu-ray, $29.98)
‘The Last Unicorn’
The magical 1982 animated film based on the book by Peter S. Beagle comes to Blu-ray with a slew of special features, including “The Tail of the Last Unicorn” mini-documentary. Featuring the voice talents of Jeff Bridges, Mia Farrow and Angela Lansbury. And it has unicorns. Who doesn’t like unicorns? (DVD/Blu-ray Combo, $19.99)
‘The Guild’ Season Four
Felicia Day’s popular Web series about online role-playing video gamers returns with even more Wil Wheaton. (DVD, $14.95)
‘Memento’
The film that brought director Christopher Nolan to the public’s attention is as excellent now as it was when it premiered. This 10th Anniversay Blu-ray edition includes a look back at the making of the film as well as some other digital treats. (Blu-ray, $19.99)
‘Nurse Jackie’ Season Two
Edie Falco returns as the drug-addicted nurse. Give her a cane and she can star on “House”! (DVD, $39.98; Blu-ray, $39.97)
‘Weeds’ Season Six
I’m sure I’m not alone in wishing this show never left the California town it was set it. Hasn’t been the same since. (DVD, $39.98; Blu-ray, $39.97)
‘Mesrine: Killer Instinct: Part 1’
Vincent Cassel stars as the French gangster Jacques Mesrine. Part two is due out in late March. (DVD, $29.95; Blu-ray, $34.95)
‘Les Miserables: The 25th Anniversary Concert’
If you missed this on Broadway, and can withstand a Jonas brother (Nick plays Marius), then now’s the time to check out this revolutionary musical. (DVD, $29.98; Blu-ray, $39.98)
‘Get Low’
“Get Low” is a quirky indie film about a hermit (Robert Duvall) nearing death who pays a funeral director (Bill Murray) to hold a “funeral party” for him so he can hear all bad things the townsfolk said about him. (DVD, $28.95; Blu-ray, $38.96)
‘Sweet Smell of Success’
The classic Manhattan thriller about a conniving gossip columnist (Burt Lancaster) and press agent (Tony Curtis) gets the high-class Criterion treatment. (DVD or Blu-ray, $39.95)
