Rex Ryan wants Mark Sanchez back on target after sloppy Denver game

Rex Ryan hopes the bye week brought back the interception-free Mark Sanchez of the Jets’ first five games, and not the flawed quarterback of their pre-bye win in Denver.

Sanchez threw his first two picks of the season in that ever-so-narrow  24-20 victory. And now, against pass-heavy, quick-strike Green Bay this Sunday, Ryan and the Jets (5-1) know Sanchez will have to bolster his nine-touchdown total and keep that pick tally  right where it is.

“He can’t worry about anything, but he has to be a smart quarterback,” Ryan said Wednesday during his weekly news conference. “That’s something we have to get back; let’s know where the ball’s going.”

With the Steelers and Patriots joining them at five wins last weekend, the Jets won’t want to have a stumble against a 4-3 Packers squad that ranks No. 8 league-wide, scoring 23.9 points per game. Cornerback Darrelle Revis proclaimed he’s “100 percent” after resting a troublesome hamstring over the bye, and that should help contain quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

But Sanchez will also have to step up his game again.

“That [Denver] week was kind of a short week,” Ryan said. “Hopefully, he’s back in a routine where he’s more comfortable. Let’s get back to doing what we do — run the ball and make accurate throws.

“He’s fine.”
