Richard Simmons pumped up NYC with his signature mix of laughs and tears on Thursday night.

The fitness guru taught a class to a packed roomful of ladies (and a few gents) at Aerospace, which was hosted by Old Navy - and amNewYork was there.

Simmons - who at age 64 is still rocking those short shorts - sadly isn't putting out a line of mini workout shorts for the brand, but he did don a royal-blue pair at the event, along with a custom-made Swarovski-encrusted Old Navy tank.

In classic Simmons style, the bubbly star entertained with jokes, singing and dance moves - "I don't care if you're laughing with me or at me," he said - and got emotional when talking about his family and weight struggles. He also belted out two original songs during the class, including one about falling in love for the first time.
