Two Rikers Island correction officers were sentenced Tuesday for allowing inmates to beat a teenage inmate to death, according to published reports.
Following a plea deal reached in October, ex-officer Michael McKie, who already has served 21 months, was sentenced to two years in prison for first-degree assault in Bronx Supreme Court. His colleague, ex-officer Khalid Nelson, received a one-year sentence for attempted assault in the death of Christopher Robinson, 18, who was killed in October 2008 in a "fight club"-like beat-down - an operation run by McKie and Nelson.
Robinson's family intends to sue the city.
