Venerable pastry spot Pasticceria Rocco has been shut down by the Department of Health for an expired permit, dnainfo.com reported Sunday.
It was unclear what the expired permit related to, but a sign posted in bakery’s window said: "Due to an expired permit, Rocco’s will be closed. Sorry for the inconvenience."
John Houston, an employee at the West Village staple, told dnainfo.com that he expected the problem to be fixed by today.
The bakery opened in 1974 by pastry chef Rocco Generoso and is now owned by his children.
Neither the health department nor the pastry shop returned calls for comment yesterday.
