Rubin Museum gets $270G for Tibetan painting

A New York City museum recognized for its collection of Himalayan art has been awarded a $270,000 grant from the Henry Luce Foundation for the study of Tibetan Buddhist painting.

The museum announced Thursday that the three-year grant will advance the work of David Jackson. He's a renowned scholar on Tibetan Buddhist painting and a consulting curator at the Rubin.

The new grant will allow for the completion of three exhibition catalogs, primarily drawn from the museum's collection.

Each catalog will explore a different genre or school of the practice of Tibetan painting.

A total of eight catalogs are planned.
