Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, acting as a surrogate for Donald Trump, on Sunday dismissed Hillary Clinton’s characterization of her recent misstatements about an FBI probe as the result of having “short-circuited.”

“First of all, she lied. She didn’t short-circuit,” Giuliani said on ABC’s “This Week.” “She lied last week when she said the FBI found that she’d hadn’t lied. You read Comey’s report, he found she lied in about eight different places. So maybe short-circuit is her euphemism for lying.”

Clinton said Friday that she “may have short-circuited” when she insisted during an earlier TV interview that FBI Director James Comey had described the statements she gave for his investigation into her use of a private email server as “truthful” and “consistent with what I have told the American people.”

In fact, while Comey did not call for charges and concluded that she had not lied, he said Clinton was “extremely careless.”

Giuliani said Trump, the GOP presidential nominee, would continue to attack Clinton, the Democratic nominee, on that front.
