Russell Brand hoping for a 'happier' 2012 after Katy Perry split

Mere days after filing for divorce from Katy Perry, Russell Brand has one thing on his mind: a happier future.
Brand wasn't in the mood for New Year's cheer while staying at London's Savoy hotel over the holiday: When a fellow gym-goer at the hotel wished him a happy new year, he replied, "Here's hoping it gets happier," according to the U.K.'s Daily Mail.
Perry, meanwhile, spent New Year's Eve with pals in Miami.
The comedian, 36, and singer, 27, were married for a year before Brand - a recovering sex and heroin addict - ended the union, reportedly because he wanted to settle down and start a family and she didn't.
