The closing of Second on Second karaoke bar this week hit a sour note with its loyal, pitched patrons, but its staff say it was unfortunately a sign of the times.

The 10-year-old venue at 27 Second Ave. will end its run Thursday night with an all-night singing party and dozens of wanna-be Beyonces and Justin Timberlakes are expected to show up, according to the manager Kali.

Despite its popularity, the manager said business wasn't strong enough to meet the financial demands of a new lease.

"I think karaoke has taken a dip in popularity. We have to compete with home karaoke games," Kali said.

Carrie Soom, 28, of Brooklyn, who would come to the bar on a weekly basis, said no PlayStation game could re-create the experiences she and her friends had.

In addition to the private booths, a good sound system, and a dollar fee for songs, Soom said it was just a great place to unwind and enjoy some interesting covers belted by total strangers.

"The place's vibe was like a performance and a party at the same time," she said.

Second's fans tried to get a fundraiser going to save the bar, but its demise may have been more than just the about money, according to a source with knowledge about the situation.

Kali, declined to go into more details about the closure, but said she understands her customers' disappointment.

She said she didn't know if the space's next owners will keep the karaoke equipment but wouldn't rule it out based on the fan feedback.

"Every time a door closes, another one opens," Kali said.
