Secretary of State Clinton returned to work Monday

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton returned to work Monday, five days after being discharged from the hospital where she was being treated for a blood clot.

Clinton -- who also recently suffered a concussion from a fall -- had a 9:15 a.m. meeting with the assistant secretary of states, and received a football helmet with the state department seal on it and a football jersey with "112" -- the number of countries she's visited in her position -- from her staff. The staff joked that working in Washington was a "contact sport."

Clinton, 65, has her first White House meeting Tuesday with Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and National Security Adviser Tom Donilon, the State Department said.

She missed four weeks of work because of her health scares, including the concussion she suffered from a fall she took while weakened from the stomach flu. She spent four nights in New York-Presbyterian Hospital last week. Her doctors expect her to recover fully.

Clinton is set to step down as secretary of state in the coming weeks. President Barack Obama has chosen Sen. John Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, to replace her.
