Sen. Carl Kruger to turn himself in to authorities: reports

Powerful state Sen. Carl Kruger is expected to turn himself in to the feds today on a corruption rap, according to published reports.

Kruger (D-Brooklyn) has been under investigation by the FBI since 2008 on allegations of using his position in exchange for fund-raising favors and political contributions.

It was unclear last night whether Koppel was surrendering in connection with that probe or an unrelated case. The Daily News was reporting that some of the charges involve Kruger’s advocacy of a merger involving the now defunct Parkway Hospital in Queens.

Calls to Kruger and his reps were not returned.
