Sept. 11: Events around the city to observe the anniversary

Thousands of September 11th families, survivors and leaders are expected to gather at Ground Zero Tuesday to commemorate the 9/11 attacks and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Here is the schedule for the memorial:

8:46 a.m. - Citywide moment of silence in observance of time first plane struck north tower

After the moment of silence, families of victims of 2001 and 1993 attacks will begin reading the names in pairs. No elected officials will be reading the names or making speeches during the ceremony.

9:03 a.m. Moment of silence in observance of the time the second plane struck south tower

9:37 a.m. Moment of silence in observance of when Flight 77 struck the Pentagon

9:59 a.m. Moment of silence in observance of time of fall of the south tower.

10:03 a.m.  Moment of silence in observance of when Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania.

10:28 a.m.  Moment of silence in observance of the time of fall of the north tower.

12 p.m. Program is expected to conclude.

The Tribute in Light will be turned on at dusk.

There will be other memorial events throughout the five boroughs.

Manhattan:

The Peace of Heart Choir will perform a special sing-along concert at Merchant's Gate of Central Park, 59th Street at east side of Columbus Circle, at 5:30 p.m. Their program includes music from various genres and ethnic backgrounds.

Trinity Church will be hosting a concert with the United States Military Academy Band titled "On This Day: Celebrating the Spirit of America."

Queens:

Juniper Valley Park candlelight memorial: The event will begin at 7:30 and include music and remarks from elected officials.

Breezy Point Memorial: At 8:30 a.m. residents from the Rockaways will read a list of names of community members who were killed on Sept. 11 at Sept. 11 memorial, Tribute Park at Rockaway Point Blvd and Beach 218th St.

Staten Island:

Postcards Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Borough President James P. Molinaro will host a memorial Ceremony at Postcards monument starting at 6:30 p.m. where the names of 235 Staten Islanders killed during the attacks will be read.

Blood Drive: The borough president will also be sponsoring a blood drive at various locations throughout the borough.
