Service on NYC's 7 line disrupted by crane accident

The MTA says subway service has been suspended between the Willets Point and Main Street-Flushing stations on the 7 line after a crane dropped construction materials onto the tracks.

A spokeswoman for New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority says the incident happened shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday.

She says construction crane dropped a large piece of steel onto the tracks and caused a small electrical fire.

The MTA shut off power in the area so crews could remove debris and assess the damage to the tracks.

Shuttle buses are running between Willets Point and Main Street Flushing.

No injuries were reported from the incident.
