SI man charged with baby-selling Craigslist ad
A 22-year-old Staten Island man out for revenge against a woman was busted for trying to sell her 2-month-old baby on Craigslist for $100, according to court papers.
Paul Marquez, who posted the ads in late July, was upset that the 19-year-old mother did not pay him enough attention after the two had gone out a few times and chatted online, according to a law enforcement source.
Marquez, who was arraigned Thursday and is being held on $1,000 bail, is due back in criminal court today, said a spokesman for the Staten Island district attorney. Marquez was charged with misdemeanor counts of aggravated harassment, endangering the welfare of a child and authority to place or board out children, the complaint said. There is an investigation into a man who answered the ad and contacted the mother.
