Heat sticks around
Hoping for a break in this week’s intense heat? We hope you’re patient. Wednesday’s forecast calls for a high of 92 degrees. The National Weather Service has extended its heat advisory until 8 p.m. Thursday. Highs in the 90s are expected through at least Saturday.

Candidates discuss food
Most of the city’s major mayoral candidates will discuss agriculture, food and hunger at a forum Wednesday night at The New School. “The Future of Food in New York City” forum begins at 6 p.m. at Tishman Auditorium on West 12th Street.

Farmers market at night
Union Square will hold its first nighttime farmers market Wednesday. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and in addition to the usual farmers market selections -- fruits, veggies, flowers -- there will be live music and local restaurants on hand. 

Marley Marl and friends in Queens
Renowned hip-hop producer Marley Marl, who helped launch the careers of Biz Markie and Eric B. & Rakim, is performing with the Force MDs and Horace Brown in his hometown of Queensbridge on Wednesday night. The free show begins at 7 p.m. at Queensbridge Park.

ESPYs tonight
ESPN will hand out its annual awards Wednesday night in Los Angeles. Among the nominees with New York ties are the Yankees’ Mariano Rivera (best comeback), the Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony (best NBA player), Met-turned-Blue Jay R.A. Dickey (best MLB player), the Rangers’ Henrik Lundqvist (best NHL player) and the Islanders’ John Tavares (best NHL player). The show starts at 9 p.m. and will be broadcast on – you guessed it – ESPN.
