Sofia Vergara shows off new engagement ring in Mexico

Sofia Vergara was rocking some serious bling as she celebrated her 40th birthday in Mexico: a brand new shimmering engagement ring.

The "Modern Family" beauty received the rock from her 36-year-old boyfriend of two years, Nick Loeb, as they partied south of the border this week with 90 of their friends for Vergara's big 4-0, according to published reports.

Vergara's friend and former co-star Fernando Fiore broke the news when he tweeted a photo of the brunette bombshell wearing the enormous ring on Monday.
The Colombian actress and her beau started dating in 2010 but briefly broke it off in May. Still, the engagement was surprise to close friends, according to the Wonderwall, which first reported the engagement.

"She's the nicest, sweetest, kindest person on the Earth, but she has a thing for bad boys," a source told the gossip site. "And she found one with him."

Vergara's rep didn't return requests for comment.
