The Mexican TV sports reporter at the center of the Jets catcall controversy faced questions Tuesday about whether her provocative couture invites unwelcome attention and is appropriate for a professional sports journalist.

New York sports journalism legend Len Berman went on Facebook to take aim at Ines Sainz’s clothing choices.

“Having worked in locker rooms, I'm a firm believer of equal access,” Berman wrote. “But let's be honest here. If Ms. Sainz wants to be taken seriously as a journalist, she should dress like one. Period.”

That’s ridiculous, said noted attorney Gloria Allred, who is representing a Queens woman in a sex-discrimination suit against Citibank.

“She's not the problem. They are if they're making comment about her appearance,” Allred said.

Sainz on Tuesday said she was not the one who provoked an incident Saturday in which Jets players allegedly catcalled and ogled her in the locker room. The NFL is investigating.

On Fox News, Sainz, wearing a cleavage-baring black shirt, was asked why she had tight jeans on during Saturday’s practice.

“Well, it’s my size,” she said.

Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis had to apologize Tuesday after suggesting players can’t be helped around attractive woman.

“I think you put women reporters in the locker room in position to see guys walking around naked, and you sit in the locker room with 53 guys, and all of the sudden you see a nice woman in the locker room. " Portis said.

But some New Yorkers wonder if Sainz isn’t using all the attention to her advantage.

“This whole thing could really just boost her career,” said Rachel Benaim, 18, of midtown.
