Consolidated Edison is reporting several hundred outages in New York City as temperatures continue to soar for a third straight day.

The company says about 600 of its customers in Queens were without electricity Tuesday morning. Another 50 customers were without power on Staten Island.

The company expected to restore power to those customers sometime Tuesday.

The National Weather Service says temperatures in the 90s were expected for the rest of the week.

Con Ed is encouraging people to conserve energy, pull down their blinds and set their thermostats at 78.
