While no one will be surprised to see Daniel Day-Lewis or Jon Hamm on the list of SAG Awards nominees announced Wednesday, there were some nominations that seemed to come way out of left field:

-- Nicole Kidman was nominated for best supporting actress in "The Paperboy," a movie that was widely panned.

-- Javier Bardem received the best supporting actor nomination for "Skyfall." James Bond movies are usually better known for explosions than for brilliant acting.

-- "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" was a surprise nominee for outstanding cast in a motion picture.

-- The cable TV series "Girls," "The Walking Dead" and "Game of Thrones," though popular, all went without any noms.
