The 19-year-old man accused of beating his mother to death on Tuesday inside their Hell's Kitchen apartment said he didn't kill her and doesn't remember anything that happened during the incident.
During jailhouse interviews on Thursday, Henry Wachtel sobbed as he claimed he blacked out on Tuesday morning and had a seizure.
"I'm in here for something I didn't do," Wachtel told the New York Post. "I'm not a killer.
"I love my mom, she was my rock," he added. "We loved each other,"
Officials said Wachtel's mother, Karyn Kay, called 911 at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday because he was having a seizure. Police found Kay, a 63-year-old LaGuardia High School English teacher, lying severely beaten on the floor, and she died a few hours later. Wachtel has been charged with murder.
