'Spider-man' musical delayed - again

Beset by problems from the start, “Spider-man: Turn Off The Dark” keeps getting itself tangled in new webs.

Because of technical problems the $60 million show is being delayed for a second time, pushing its opening from Dec. 21 to sometime in January.

The highly anticipated show was set to begin previews on Nov. 14 at the newly
christened Foxwoods Theatre on 42nd Street.

O&M Co., the show's press office declined to comment on
the current situation but promised it would release a detailed
plan regarding the revised preview and opening dates on Friday.

Last week it was revealed that several actors had been injured while
rehearsing the show's aerial acts and special effects. Most notably,
actor Kevin Aubin broke both his wrists during a high-flying stunt
performed in front of group sales agents. Other reports indicate that
rehearsals have been chaotic and that much of the show has yet to even
be staged.

When state labor inspectors attended rehearsal on Wednesday, director
Julie Taymor and her creative team were unprepared to present all the
circus-style stunts needed to gain the state's stamp of approval.

The show, which features original songs by Bono and The Edge of U2, has been subject to unprecedented gossip and speculation. It was originally supposed to open last winter but was postponed because of money problems.
