Starting Wednesday, unlimited-ride MetroCards can be reused

Starting Wednesday, straphangers can refill monthly and weekly MetroCards.
As previously reported in amNewYork, it's the first time riders can reuse an unlimited-ride card. Riders can also store an extra week or month on their card.
Half of riders currently buy monthly and weekly transit passes.
Next year, the cash-strapped agency plans to charge riders that don't reuse old cards $1 for a new one.
