Congress should prepare for a dose of “truthiness” on Friday.

Faux political pundit Stephen Colbert, who popularized the word on his namesake Comedy Central show, “The Colbert Report,” is expected to testify at a House Judiciary Committee about agricultural jobs, an issue he has brought attention to in his televised skits.

It is believed Colbert will appear in his conservative newsman character, leaving some in Congress to voice concern.

“This is not a TV stunt,” a judiciary committee spokeswoman told The Daily Caller, saying that the hearing was a “serious issue.”

Colbert could not be reached for comment Thursday.

United Farm Workers President Arturo Rodriguez, who will appear on Capitol Hill with Colbert, said they will discuss American labor shortages and food safety.

The UFW, which is pushing for immigration reform, launched a “Take Our Jobs” campaign this past summer, welcoming Americans to fill jobs of immigrant farm workers, some of whom are undocumented.

Last month, Colbert worked at a New York farm for a day, and the footage was to be aired Thursday night.

“The fact that Stephen Colbert is focusing on these issues .. in and of itself has brought tremendous attention and further credibility,” Rodriguez said.
