A tearful Nafissatou Diallo spoke publicly Thursday to convey her emotional pain and rebuff her portrayal in the media after alleging she was sexually attacked by Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

“I am going through a lot,” said Diallo, 32, a chambermaid who claims the ex-IMF boss tried to force her to perform oral sex in his midtown hotel room in May.

“My daughter, we are going through a lot. We are crying everyday. We can’t sleep,” she said, surrounded by supporters at the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn.

Strauss-Kahn, 62, has pleaded not guilty and contends any sexual contact was consensual.

Meanwhile, prosecutors could toss out the criminal case against him before it goes to trial because of Diallo’s shaky credibility. Her statements about the attack were inconsistent, according to reports, while she admittedly lied about being gang-raped in her native Guinea in her asylum paperwork.

Her attorney, Kenneth Thompson, said yesterday he still plans to file a civil suit against Strauss-Kahn, although he didn’t say when. The burden of proof is not as stringent in such cases, legal experts say.
