Home hunters looking to live on their own in Brooklyn may need a bigger wallet.

A report released Thursday by the real estate firm MNS found that the average rent for a studio in the borough was $1,956 in July.

Not only did rent increase 6.7% from the June average of $1,832, but it also represented a 14.9% jump in Brooklyn studio pricing from the same point last year, according to the report.

DUMBO had the largest average rent price in July with a studio fetching $3,275, while Bed-Stuy had the lowest rent with an average of $1,200.

Greenpoint saw the greatest jump in rents for all types of apartments, according to the report.

"Although close to Williamsburg, Greenpoint rents are significantly lower which might make this a better investment for the renter," the report said.
