Study finds huge risk of collapse for two city bridges
An Associated Press analysis Sunday warned of a potential risk of a collapse on the Brooklyn Bridge if one of its main components were to fail.
The analysis reviewed more than 600,000 bridges and found the span is one of 400 New York bridges that has problematic structure factors.
AP said that for bridges in this category "one major component of the span has advanced deterioration or other problems that lead inspectors to deem its condition 'poor' or worse."
The Brooklyn Bridge is undergoing a four-year, $500 million reconstruction. The other city bridge cited in the analysis is the Kosciuszko Bridge.
