Straphangers are more satisfied with the subway system, according to an MTA survey released Monday.

More than 1,800 riders polled by the transit agency gave it higher marks this year in most areas, the survey showed.

Among the largest increases were in riders' assessment of how quickly trains get them where they want to go -- up to 86% satisfaction from 81% -- and of the MTA's ability to give out information about subway service, which went from 73% last year to 79%.

Riders gave lower grades this year for nine of 54 topics they were asked about, according to the survey, including their sense of personal safety at night in subways and stations.
