Sue Simmons' days at WNBC are numbered.

The longtime evening news anchor's official farewell broadcast will be on June 15, according to In March, WNBC did not renew the 69-year-old's contract despite re-upping her co-anchor Chuck Scarborough's deal for an additional three years. Simmons' successor has not been named.

Simmons, whose annual salary is $2.5 million, joined the network in 1980 and hosted its Live at Five newscast until 2007. She has won four Emmys during her stint, and regularly received praise from viewers for her on-screen chemistry with Scarborough.

Simmons' reputation suffered from an on-air gaffe four years ago when she cursed out Scarborough with an F-bomb during a promo for the 11 o'clock newscast. Simmons later apologized to viewers about the incident, which went viral on YouTube.

Simmons was away from the desk last year due to back surgery, but when she returned, she did not co-host the 6 p.m. newscast.

Published reports said the anchor was not working as hard on her reporting and the network was looking to cut costs without laying off younger staff.
