SUNY students who withdraw from classes because of Superstorm Sandy will get back a full tuition refund, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday.
The SUNY Board of Trustees passed a resolution that will give campus presidents discretion to grant the refund for any student who withdraws from the current semester and/or spring 2013.
"SUNY students whose studies were disrupted by Hurricane Sandy need not worry about getting their money back and can instead focus their energy on their families and rebuilding," Gov Cuomo said.
Under the existing guidelines for hardship withdraws, the student will only get a refund if he or she leaves before the middle of the semester. The board modified these rules because Sandy happened after the semester's midpoint.
