A Bronx man was awaiting arraignment Tuesday after being charged with assault as a hate crime in the Sept. 16 slashing of a man accompanying a transgender woman at a trouble-plagued Greenwich Village McDonald's.
Monday night, Keith Patron, 44, "just walked into a [Bronx] precinct and said, 'I'm the guy on the news,'" an NYPD spokesman said. Jamar McLeod, 22, told reporters he was slashed with a razor on his neck, elbow, face and back, by a man who taunted his companion, Jalisa Griffin, 22, for going into a women's bathroom and then cursed them with homophobic epithets.
The Greenwich Village McDonald's has been the site of at least three other violent altercations in the last 17 months, including the March 2011 beating of young gay man who said his attackers criticized his fluorescent clothing and pink shoe laces.
