Suspect arrested in slaying of girlfriend, daughters in Queens: NYPD

The suspect wanted in a triple slaying of a mother and her two young daughters was arrested by U.S. Marshals late Monday night traveling between Houston and Austin, Texas, the NYPD said.

An NYPD spokesman confirmed the arrest of Miguel Mejia-Ramos, 28, identified by law enforcement officials Monday as a suspect in the stabbing deaths of Deisy Garcia, 21, and her daughters, Daniela, 2, and Yoselin, 1, whose bodies were found Sunday by officers responding to a 911 call at their apartment in South Jamaica, Queens.

The circumstances of the arrest were not immediately clear, but police said Mejia-Ramos was taken into custody during a stop in Schoenberg Lake, Texas, just before midnight.
Police said it is believed that Mejia-Ramos would face a preliminary hearing Tuesday. A U.S. Marshals spokesman was not immediately available for comment.

Investigators believe Mejia-Ramos stabbed Garcia, who authorities described as his girlfriend, and their two daughters numerous times during an attack in a one-bedroom apartment at 90-20 Sutphin Blvd.

Each victim had what police described as “multiple stab wounds” — Garcia and Daniela with wounds to the torso; Yoselin with wounds to the chest. They were pronounced dead at the scene soon after officers arrived about 7:07 p.m.
