All-clear given after suspicious package found at Grand Central Terminal, MTA says

Authorities have issued an all-clear after investigating a suspicious package found on the lower level of New York City's Grand Central Terminal and have reopened the area to the public.

Metropolitan Transportation spokeswoman Meredith Daniels says officials found no threat to the public and started reopening the lower level of the transit hub on the east side of Manhattan at about 10 a.m. Friday, a little more than an hour after the suspicious package was discovered.

No information was available about what the package was or where it was found. That area of the terminal includes a food court and numerous train tracks.

Grand Central Terminal provides train service for Metro-North trains to suburban New York and Connecticut. Trains were delayed, but service is moving again.
