SUV passenger killed in bus crash at JFK
A passenger in a sport utility vehicle was killed and its driver seriously injured Wednesday night after a collision with an MTA bus at Kennedy Airport, officials said.
The seven passengers on the bus and the driver suffered minor injuries, a Port Authority spokesman said Thursday.
The dead victim is a 26-year-old man from Brooklyn. His identity is being withheld until family members can be notified, Port Authority spokesman Ron Marsico said.
The man was a passenger in a Chevrolet Suburban that struck an MTA bus at about 10:25 p.m., at Pan Am Road near Parking Lot 8, Marsico said.
The driver of the Suburban also was seriously injured and taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Marsico said.
An MTA spokesman said the bus driver will undergo a blood test for drug and alcohol use, but results would not be available for 24 to 36 hours.
MTA spokesman Charles Seaton said the test is standard procedure when an operator of an MTA vehicle is involved in such an accident.
