A taxi hit two young children in Central Park and then fled the scene on Thursday, according to police.

Two girls, ages 7 and 9, were taken to Cornell Hospital after a yellow cab backed up into a crosswalk and hit the two girls, who were visiting the park with their Queens summer camp, police said. The children weren't seriously injures.

The driver exited his car and checked on the two girls and drove away before police arrived, an NYPD spokesman said.

Police suspect no criminality and are not treating the incident as a hit and run.
